WordPress-Logo-CookieI had the honor of being asked to speak at a local WordPress Meetup this week so decided to bring something a little festive for everyone at the meeting (you can see the thumbnail image here and a bigger image below). And not only was it festive, it was also edible (and quite delicious if I do say so myself).

A little about this WordPress Meetup

Before I go detail about  the edible WordPress Logo, let me tell you a bit about how I was asked to speak at this meetup. I have to be totally frank here and tell you that I can be a bit of a dichotomy when it comes to my business and networking. Most people who meet me would probably say I’m pretty outgoing and social (I am)- but I’ve also gotten to a place where I REALLY love the quality of my life and can tend to get into a bit of a boring routine (shall we say ‘STUCK?’).

But, I’m guessing like most people, when I do get out of the house and go connect with people it’s always worth it (don’t get me wrong, I’m not a TOTAL hermit… just a single parent with two kids and a busy life. My time is PRECIOUS!). This was one of those occasions.

Lou Anne McKeefery Be-Found.netMany of you may know Lou Anne McKeefery as the brilliant mind behind our WP SEO Mastery course (which will be re-launched the first part of the year with some overhaul to how we deliver the content, etc.). I had the pleasure of meeting Lou Anne at the Genesis Connect Meetup in San Francisco this past August the Friday evening before WordCamp SF. I met Lou Anne through another new friend, Stacey Wilkinson (Stacey’s business is Project Manager, VA, WP site dev. and then some). Stacey and I connected through my list (I believe.. Stacey? do you remember?) andStacey-Wilkinson planned to connect at the meetup. Stacey and Lou Anne are both local Bay Area residents so one would think it’s easier to stay connected right? (not always the case.. but with these two women it is!). Stacey is the one who introduced me to Lou Anne (whom I also instantly liked and begged her to do a course with me for my subscribers. Her business is SEO and she’s wicked smart!).

SO… a while back Lou Anne asked me if I would speak about WordPress Membership sites for her WordPress Bay Area Foothills Meetup  for the December meeting! Nice, huh? Of course I had to think about it for a while…. ha ha. Hardly! (ok… flashback here- I almost wrote NOT! Totally dating myself with the Wayne’s World reference, I know). It was REALLY great! And here’s the kicker… if you’re someone who believes in intention and all that good stuff (which I do.. in a BIG way)- I’ve been saying for a while that I’d like to start doing some speaking (as in public… ;-) ). AND… here you go. It was a blast and I met some GREAT people. ;-)

O.k. – time to get to the edible

WordPress Logo!

HOW CUTE IS THIS????

WordPress Logo Cookie Carries Cookies

The amazing baker behind this cookie is Carrie Van Sloten of Carrie’s Cookies.

I’ve known Carrie for hmm…. 30 years? (jeeze.. that makes me feel old to say that- BUT… it’s because I met her when I was a child). Carrie is a good friend of my sister’s and they’ve been friends since elementary school. She’s been in business since 2006 making the MOST amazing looking cookies and they are ABSOLUTELY FRIGGIN DELICIOUS!!!

I’ve been wanting to do a WordPress Logo Cookie for a while… I know, kind of random.

BUT… there is a method to my madness!

With a couple of new things I’m launching in 2012 I want to add a personal touch to this oh so fabulous Internet stuff. And thought “Who wouldn’t want to get a yummy WordPress cookie in the MAIL? Yes, as in physical mail… snail mail…remember that? This is something that I’m going to be adding to my business in 2012. MORE Personal Connections with clients, customers, peers, you name it.
The above story is a great example of how great things come from simply saying “Yes!”

In the meantime, if you need a cookie… for ANYTHING… I CANNOT recommend Carrie & Carrie’s Cookies enough. She’s amazingly talented, professional and just an overall awesome Chick! (of course I’d use the word ‘Chick’!).

I’d also love to hear how YOU’VE added a personal touch or are connecting offline with people in your business. I’m officially putting it out there for 2012 that I’ll be doing this… and PLEASE holler if you’re ever in the Bay Area. Who knows.. maybe we can connect!
